[Some time after their network conversation, the door to their shared dorm opens and Mabosstiff enters. Arven shuffles in after him, holding a huge bag of Pokemon food. Did he carry that thing all the way here? It's like twenty pounds.]
We're back.
[With a huff, he plops the bag down on his side of the room and flops onto his bed in short order.]
Phew!
[Much to Arven's chagrin, Mabosstiff wanders to Eli's side of the room to seek pets. This is starting to become a routine and Arven's less than pleased about it. But he's not about to stop his partner unless Eli starts having a problem with it.]
[ Eli's been waiting, seated on the edge of his own bed, when the two arrive. As soon as Mabosstiff makes a b-line straight for his side, he leans over to bury both hands in the dog's fur and ruffles it. ]
Did you have a good time going shopping? Eh?
[ Yeah, the chances of Eli ever having a problem with is will forever remain a big fat zero. ]
[Hell yeah, pets!! Mabosstiff happily wags his tail and barks in response to Eli's question. Sounds like he's grateful for the opportunity to go out for walkies more than anything.
Arven rolls his eyes at being ignored and mutters something to himself, but he doesn't interrupt until the petting session is over. This is out of respect for Mabosstiff more than anything, mind you!!]
[ Aw, Arven, don't be jealous. Just be glad that the topic Eli has to broach here is more critical than poking fun at his roommate for finding this entire interaction annoying; he may have even offered Arven pets to make things fair... and then laughed his ass off at whatever the reaction to that may have been.
But luck is on Arven's side today. None of that happens. He merely finishes ruffling Mabosstiff's ears, then straightens up and sets his gaze on Arven instead. That grin he had for his doggy friend fades away to something much more grim. ]
First, I need to know how much I got to explain here. Does your world have lycanthropy? Or, y'know, werewolves and shit like that?
Some part of Celeste isn't expecting Eli to actually run to meet up with him, and yet... there he is. Running down the street. The impulse to hide and make things more difficult is high, but ultimately sticking around in plain sight to watch him wins out.
He'll even offer a bit of a wave when he does make it! Wow!]
You're on time~
[Is he? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way it doesn't really matter.]
[ Run, run, run, run, run, aaaand... here! He's wooon the race! Only it was never a race, and he didn't need to run here. The thing is, he likes running. It made for a good challenge. Even though he's winded enough to lean over and steady himself with his hands against his upper thighs, needing a minute when, usually, he'd hardly even need a breather... ]
Ha, yeah? Am I?
[ Breath caught, he straightens up and gives Celeste a cocky little smirk. ]
I knew I'd make it.
[ He isn't going to check if that's true or not. Shh. ]
[Yeah, bending over to take a breather just puts you at the perfect height for hair-ruffles, Eli. You know. Like a puppy. Because we can't have nice things without being a menace.]
[ Pets!!! Only Eli is not, in fact, actually a dog, and so that earns some ire from him. ]
Hey, I'm not some little kid! [ Don't ruffle his hair?! Hello?! ] Geez, I came here to ask you something serious, at least act like it...
[ Anyway, huffing and puffing aside, he'll pause to look around to ensure no one else from the dorms is lurking nearby. No one he can see, at least. ]
It's just... I don't know how things will shake out when the moon's full. I have a pendant that usually keeps me from changing, but that shit relies on magic, and it ain't got any anymore.
[Normally, Arven wouldn't think too much about what his roomie is getting up to. But it's gotten late and Eli's still not back for the night. Given what's happened recently, Arven can't help but worry a little.
Okay, worry a lot. But he'd never admit it aloud.
Fortunately, he's able to track Eli down with the help of Mabosstiff's trusty nose. The roof isn't where he expected to find him, but at least he's here and...seemingly safe?]
There you are. [Mabosstiff reaches Eli before Arven does, but he's not far behind.] What're you doing up here this late?
[ Sulking and finishing off one of the bottles of schnapps Celeste got him not even that long ago, that's what. Well, that and... Eli's quick to wipe his face dry on his sleeve and looks away, trying his best to disguise that he's been crying because, shit, he doesn't want Arven getting upset about any of this. ]
Can't a guy just sit on a fucking roof? I like it up here, okay?
Oh, get stuffed. You ain't my mum. I don't got to tell you... tell you nothing.
[ His words are a little slurred, and he sounds sniffly for some reason. This is probably fine. ]
'sides, should be happy to have a whole ass night without your stupid, useless roommate... maybe I'll move out and live up here forever instead... no one should have to deal with me, y'know?
[ The heck? Did Arven leave something he was reading on the wrong bed or...? Eli spots it once he steps in from who even knows, probably from taking a shower, and picks it up.
( it's exactly what you might expect! though there's no focal legend of the hound (at least, not any i can find), his history, and his purpose, are detailed, as are the few times he's mentioned.
[ Not a beast, but a guardian? A guardian of hell... or Hel. Whatever Hel is. Eli can't deny that sounds accurate. He fights demons. He protects people from them.
He turns the book over in his hands, flips through the pages, looking for any hint or sign of who may have left it. ]
[ Eli is not known for his patience. If he got away with pulling Celeste into a kiss earlier, he'll surely get away with what he's about to do next, with the dire hope that Celeste finds the initiative attractive.
He'll shift how he is from his seat in Celeste's lap to a whole new position. This one has him turning to face him, knees going on either side of the vampire's hips to straddle him. He'll brace himself with a hand planted against the wide windowsill the little couch is set into, right next to Celeste's head, before going in for the next kiss. ]
His hope is rewarded. He does find the initiative attractive, and is quick to respond to it in kind.
As Eli shifts, he puts a hand on his hip, gripping tight. The other goes right back into Eli's hair, further mussing up the previously carefully placed style as he leans up to meet the kiss.
This one isn't as desperate and messy as the first, at least, impatience notwithstanding.]
[ joke's on you, flatviewers don't know how to click links or read
That tight grip pressing fingers hard through the fabric is both something that feels amazing and at the same time, frustrating, with how it separates such a touch from his skin. Regardless, it has Eli groaning quietly against Celeste's lips and encouraging him to take further initiative still.
He nips at those heavily painted lips to get them to open to him, desperately wanting to lick into the vampire's mouth and see just what he can taste there. Blood, he suspects, since Celeste can hardly have anything else, but there's something more exciting to that than anything else. ]
[ A little alarm goes off — buzz, buzz, buzz — from Eli's phone where he left it on the nightstand next to the expansive king bed that takes up most of the space in their hotel room. A 5 a.m. buzzer telling him it's time to get up for his usual early morning run through the city.
This morning, however, he only groans and stirs from within the pile of three others cuddled up on the same bed, buried under the sheets. ]
...someone shut that stupid thing off... 'm not goin' for a run today...
[ He may be a bit too tired, a bit too sore, and very uninterested in leaving the shared bed anytime soon. ]
[ McGillis wakes up feeling disoriented. An unfamiliar bed, an unfamiliar alarm sound, unfamiliar body heat-- and honestly, also unfamiliar exhaustion. It's 5am, he should not still have been sleeping this deeply!
Really, he'd kind of been planning on leaving the bed before everyone else wakes up and-- well, that didn't work out.
McGillis removes his arm from where it had fallen over the heap of bodies and turns onto his other side, towards the nightstand so he can reach Eli's damn phone. ]
... we shouldn't condone you slacking off.
[ Said halfway as a joke, but that doesn't come across well when he's still so tired. He does shut the alarm off though. ]
[Conversely - it's 5am, Celeste should really just be going to sleep now. Never mind Sunset City's upending of his usual schedule, if he has to claim it to get anyone to stay in bed, he will.
He has to admit... waking up nestled in with the others like this, warm, was as nice as it was disorienting, and he's really rather unwilling to give it up so soon, even if the alarm shifts them from sleep to a lazy morning in bed.
So he can't be blamed for snaking an arm out of the pile to drape over McGillis'... anywhere, just to encourage him to stay put instead of using rolling over to get the alarm as an excuse to get up.]
