I didn't survive living in a brothel just to catch an STD in my afterlife. That would just be ridiculous.
[ There is no guilt tripping in his tone, he's just good-naturedly exasperated with you guys!!! Izou and Celeste already know anyway, so like. Eli can know as well, it's whatever at this point. ]
But if you'd all like me to start a detailed database about your habits and strengths and weaknesses, by all means...
[ It's a sweet gesture, but McGillis hopes that one day they will reach the point where Izou will stop feeling like he needs to be comforted. It happened, it fucked him up, and it will continue fucking him up for the rest of his conscious existence... but it's also firmly in the past.
But at the same time, he's not going to complain about Izou cuddling up to him. His hand idly starts playing with Izou's ponytail. ]
I can't tell if that means you think lowly or highly of me.
Yeah so you aughta have a plan fer me but you also probably have a plan fer like... just in case Red decides to kill again for way less of a reason than he did the first time.
[The way they turn "I can and will kill you" into flirting is crazy.]
[McGillis will get a bit of a fond look at the allusion to his past. It was so... casual... that it's impossible to take it as anything other than outright trust.
So with the others being sobered at the reminder, Celeste will turn that fondness into implicit permission to start that database if McGillis really, truly wants to, with something that may feel like a bit of a non-sequitur.]
When this is all over and done with, I will no longer be able to go anywhere I please without an invitation.
[ Huh... that sure is an admission of genuine weakness that McGillis did not see coming as a response to his banter. After a second he gets where Celeste is coming from - answering trust with trust, putting his money where his mouth is on breaking down the walls between them all.
Is that the impact of having an almost-palace? McGillis wonders. He is still terrified of spawning a palace of his own, but if it was just those three coming to save him maybe it wouldn't be entirely unbearable. ]
You operate on classic vampire rules then? Seems like there is a lot in the books that holds true, much to my surprise.
[At this point, with these three, he can't truly say if it is the impact of an almost-palace or not. Perhaps he'd allowed himself to get close enough to them even before it that he still would have shared in an effort to foster trust.
Perhaps it was the effect of seeing just what happened when the ~goddess~ here saw true bonds being formed.
Perhaps it was recognizing the similarities between McGillis and Izou, and knowing that handing them a weakness of his own outright was disarming enough to put them at ease. (Though he really doubts Izou would be able to use that weakness he'd shared, now.)]
For the most part, yes. In my world, what you'd think of as classic vampire rules seem to be cases where humans discovered we exist, and wrote about us, or one of us wrote his sworn enemy's weakness into a work of fiction in an attempt to get him killed. So the waters are quite muddied, but there is some truth to every legend.
[So do you want to figure out what does and does not work, McGillis, or will you be joining Izou in the ~Sexy Vampire Lord~ camp?]
Wait hold on. What are the "classic" vampire rules then? Cause the only one I know is the biting and drinking blood one. And then turning into a bat, except neither of the vampires I know do that one! Plus Celeste don't got horns or a tail!
[Izou hampered by the fact that the only other vampire he knows is an insane example of a vampire.]
[And he will learn so much, and Celeste would get in just as much trouble back home if The Vampire Government found out.
They won't. Probably. So it'll be fine.]
Mmhm. We're usually much more secretive than I have been here... but hiding felt more suspicious considering certain things which were stocked in the dormitory fridge.
[What else would need blood on hand?? Honestly, Mina could have had a little more tact there...]
[ Eli turns to give Celeste an uncertain look. Should he be sharing that? He doesn't get why he would tell McGillis. In jest? For the files with their weaknesses? Admittedly, he was only mostly sure that would be a thing for Celeste. It held true for the other vampires he knew, anyway. ]
Are we sharing weaknesses here...? Should I do one, too?
[He's trusting that the strengths and weaknesses database is mostly in jest - friendly teasing to McGillis as they all know his propensity to over-organize by now... but it's also an expression of trust.
Besides, what real harm could he do with that one? Deny him access to his world? The one where he's died?
But Eli's concern has Celeste winding an arm around his waist and bumping their shoulders together gently.]
[ Considering Eli feels the chief weakness is an obvious one and that he's sure he's already told Izou about it, he isn't sure what hiding it from McGillis would do. That man is likely the smartest out of all of them, and all he'd need to do is open a book on werewolf myths to figure it out.
He leans over, settling against Celeste less for comfort and more just because he can, but he does, so there. ]
I don't mind. It's easy to figure out 'cause everyone knows the whole "silver kills werewolves" thing. That part's mostly true.
[ McGillis did not see this coming. The database was meant as a joke wholly and entirely and he'd meant strength and weaknesses wholly in a sexual context, given the 'sex files' joke preceding.
But he can't say he's displeased by this turn of conversation. He really is learning a lot of interesting things. Less because he currently feels he's going to have to use those weaknesses against them (though he's not entirely discounting that possibility either) and more because they really are all very interesting creatures. ]
Just mostly? What are the qualifiers? The way the silver is produced?
[This is just some sort of trust building activity now, why not.]
Well once I've got my proper mana supply back, I can technically survive anything as long as I still have mana to heal with and my spirit core ain't damaged!
Nah I got all the same organs as I had when I was alive, though my heart is attached to my spirit core, so a lotta the time a strike at the heart will also hit your spirit core. Basically it's the like... sorta the center that materializes mana into my body? S'why when you dematerialize mages refer to it as spirit form, I think.
[Izou just casually mentioning he can fully go ghost.]
cw casual reference to underage prostitution.................

... not that he has any actual plans, but in the hypothetical and not entirely unlikely scenario that he did. ]
