This much doesn't do a whole lot to me, but yeah? I guess so. 'sides, sometimes people see it and suddenly think I'm less dangerous. I'm not, of course. I ain't going to tell them otherwise, though.
Yeah. The first full moon here, I wasn't sure if anything would happen or not, but it turns out I'm fine here. What is... what? What are my abilities like, or what is a werewolf like when they do turn?
[ Though knowing McGillis, he likely meant both, which is what Eli goes with without waiting for an answer. ]
Without changing, I'm way stronger. Faster. Better reflexes. I heal pretty quick so long as the injury isn't from silver or demonite or other wolves. I see in the dark just fine, my hearing and sense of smell is basically like a dog's. All that stuff.
[ But what about when he turns? Or, more specifically, when any other werewolf does. Eli hasn't since he was a kid. ]
But on a full moon, if you aren't suppressing your lycanthropy in some way or another, you're all of that and also just... bloodthirsty... and the change is real painful. You turn into a wolfman kind of thing. All you want to do is attack people and spread the disease, but this only happens on a full moon or if the demon that bit you is still around and controlling you. Mine's dead, so I just got to worry about the moon.
[ Those abilities sound... really cool, actually. McGillis would really like to see everybody in this room without their powers being limited by Sunset City. (How strange that he is the only regular human among them...) ]
How do you suppress it? Surely there's a downside to doing that as well.
[ He very rarely reveals the necklace he's wearing. It's usually tucked under his shirt. Now, though, he'll hook a finger under the thin chain and pull the pendant out to lay over the top of his shirt instead. It's a giant wolf tooth wrapped in silver wire, longer than a pointer finger. A closer look would reveal strange carvings delicately engraved into the tooth. ]
It glows the closer I get to a full moon, too. Usually, anyway. It isn't active here. [ Hence him asking when the full moon was way back at the beginning. ] I'm not sure there are downsides. I'd probably be even scarier without it, but I don't think that's worth the risk. Besides, people already look at me like I'm a monster most of the time, even with it... I don't need to be scarier.
[ McGillis is absolutely going to give this as close of a look as Eli will allow. A protective charm... He'd love to know how exactly it works, but that's another one in the long catalogue of curiousity questions that McGillis is shelving away for a nebulous 'later'. ]
If there aren't downsides, all-the-better. Maybe I am just jaded, to have expected something that has an equally inconvenient trade-off for you.
[ He lets McGillis take a close look just fine. After a second of hesitation, he'll even pull it off and hand it over for easier inspection. Here, he doesn't have to worry. Here, it's safe to. ]
Yeah, you'd think there'd be more. The big thing is I have to take care of it and never take it off... back home, anyway. If it breaks, it won't work. If someone steals it, I'm fucked. We don't have a ton of supplies to make these since the tooth has to come from an actual wolf demon.
Both? They spread out far since they're more territorial than other demons, and if I sounded like I'd be scary when my powers aren't all suppressed, imagine that but worse and a lot bigger.
You do. We still ration what buildings get electricity at night or at all. It ain't an "always on" thing. 'sides, without a moon, stuff on the planet would go weird, right? Like oceans and shit.
[...Help he doesn't know enough about Space and Throwing Things Up There to know if that's even possible or if it would work. It sounds like it should??? Maybe???
Yeah it's his turn to look at McGillis for help, here.]
That's an insane idea. To make it work without causing any environmental chaos, you'd have to essentially replace the moon with it in an instant... though teleportation maybe? But even then, that just raises the question of what even counts as a 'full moon' to the curse, no?
Is it a full moon if a different object reflects the sun's light in the same location? Is it a full moon if the moon of my world is 'full' despite it being damaged to such a degree that it is never quite 'full' in the same way people in this world think of it? Is lycantrophy functionally powerless if Eli goes to another planet or do other planets' moons trigger it?
The moon being a center of spiritual power makes some sense on its face, but as soon as you throw in things like space travel or the multiverse, the lines become pretty blurry and unpredictable.
Your powers are suppressed here, but we technically don't even know whether or not the moon of another world would affect you to begin with.
Yeah, but the demons that invaded my world came over from their world and started making people like me to bolster their troops, so either they knew our moon would work or theirs works that way, too?

You seemed afraid of the full moon, but it wound up not being an issue as far as I'm aware.
What is that usually like?
[ They're probably not going to the same place after all of this, but on the off chance... it doesn't hurt to be prepared. ]

[ This comes as a genuine surprise to McGillis. ]

[ So, no, they do have packs! In the most horrible way possible. ]

So we should just destroy the moon.
[Izou no.]

What? No?! You can't destroy the moon, Izou!
no subject
Why not!? It's not like we need it ta see at night anymore since we got electricity!

[He doesn't know the moon makes the tides happen.]

[ Looking between McGillis and Celeste for confirmation here. Help, he's only slightly smarter than Izou?! ]

There's too many details to consider.

Damn. Who knew bein' a werewolf was so damn complicated!
no subject
Yeah. Don't even ask me why the moon even matters at all. Like, why does a giant rock in the sky dictate when I go crazy or not? I don't fucking know.
