[That gets a scoff from Fray and a roll of those golden eyes.]
Yes, yes, you chose well. Is that what you wanted to hear?
[Dry sarcasm aside, though...]
I did find it an enjoyable time. It's a new way to experience something familiar; stories and plays are quite common where I'm from, though I've never seen anything quite on this scale. It was impressive.
[And then, just as genuine:] Thank you for the experience, Argenti.
[ For a moment, Argenti feels his cheeks heat at the little bit of jesting dry sarcasm because funnily enough it is true, though thankfully that swiftly passes.
And, well, the genuine expression of appreciation is enough to keep his energetic, happy spirits up by far. ]
Your welcome! I am glad to share such riveting and beautiful experiences with you, my fellow midnight knight.
In fact, if at some point you wish to scope out whatever plays they are hosting and find something to your liking, feel free to have me come along. I will certainly move to join you so quickly you will not be able to finish saying "theatre production" before I am there!
[ Argenti sounds very serious, but him arriving that faster probably isn't very realistic. But, he's used to being very unrealistic sometimes, and so far, Fray hasn't minded that at all. So, win/win? ]
I thank you for holding such faith in me. All the same, I also believe that you'll be able to manage to find a suitable show; so, I shall be awaiting your invitation.
[ Something like an amused, but somehow dually excitable look in Fray's direction once more. Picture some more sparkles added in and he's done well to supplement the lighting in the general area once more...
Seems he definitely knows Fray will absolutely invite him (which, you know is clear because he said as much but shh) ]
I hope that it changes soon. I can't imagine they're not happening at all, but I also do doubt the enthusiasm. Or perhaps they could still manage something like that, though all the same...we may be able to mark how successful we have been based upon on how people are eager to put productions together!
Ah, a fair point. Such changes may not be sufficiently noticeable without more involvement from us; it would be good to see them become more lively.
[Definitely something worth keeping an eye on, and if they do start to open up more, then perhaps we'll even get that play. A good thing to hope for, anyway.]
Speaking of that, do you believe we've had any sort of impact on the people so far?
[He's the sort of person who needs awhile to warm up to others - Argenti excluded, apparently - so he's not entirely certain he's made any progress, but maybe the others have been luckier...?? No, probably not.]
[ Argenti can hope very dearly that they do soon...the exuberance should be easier to spot once time goes on or so he hopes. He has no earthly idea about the original temperament of the people living here; though even so he doubts that it'd be difficult to obscure. ]
To be honest, I can't tell. Yet, in my heart, I think I believe that we all already have in some way. Perhaps not exactly in a big way, but people always remember well those who help them, and assisting others usually does make others appreciative. And it can lead to them wishing to want to open their hearts more.
So, as long as we've kept that up, as long as we keep helping the people in this city...whatever minimal impact we've had will bloom beautifully. And then, it stands to reason, we shall see more of that impact. That sounds quite reasonable, does it not?
[ Perhaps a bit of well-wishing, though Argenti has had to deal with helping people out before many times before, in many different situations. Even returning brightness to dulled places; so, it seems he is still rather confident in his answer.
That, even if small, they've ultimately made an impact. ]
You're right, of course. Even if the impact is not immediately visible, the point is the act of helping to begin with.
[It's not like they're doing this specifically to get a reaction from the people. Or at least, he isn't, and he's sure Argenti isn't. Knights like him are few and far between, but the rare ones that truly are good will always do what they can for people without thinking of rewards or impacts of their actions. That fits Argenti to a T, as far as Fray's known him.]
I intend to keep doing what I can for them, regardless. Though it does feel as though we have a greater impact in this other world... though perhaps that's just me.
[ Argenti does not seem to find himself surprised at this, though. Fray is a man who holds a kind heart underneath that dark armor, filled to the brim with consideration for others.
The assessment of Argenti himself in turn is indeed correct as well. He is, perhaps, one of the most happiest to have been able to assist at all; he never needs encouragement nor rewards to lend a hand.
That being said, there is something about what Fray says that makes him smile; he hasn't thought too much about whether or not the other world has more of an impact on changing things as opposed to them simply helping others around. Though... ]
It may be true that there is. I'm afraid that I can't exactly tell which method is better, but generally fighting evils typically helps erase and restores Beauty swiftly to places that have long lost its luster or deteriorated to a great extent. At least, based on my own experience! There was a city before this one I cruised through on my travels that I helped restore the very same way.
[ Well then! Argenti is most certainly very happy to elucidate on his past experiences; especially something that he actually considers relatively similar to this one. ]
Oh! Well, I believe this may have been the first I have spoke of it in full, but I came across this city that was crawling with monsters, and even the foliage had even begun to reclaim the buildings in various locations. But, in any event, I killed all of the monsters in the area, as well as picked up what trash was strewn about its streets, alongside other cleaning methods.
Soon enough, the life returned to the dilapidated land, such that even friendlier animals such as rabbits were hopping along with other friendlier animals in the woods nearby, where there was not even sight of those. So, in the end Beauty returned truly but swiftly in full bloom by the turn of springfall.
Though, let it be certain I was not doing it all by my lonesome - I shall not dare to make false claims that would be counter to the spirit of Beauty, after all! You see, I had also cross paths with another knight, even if the duration of our companionship remained as long as I lingered on that world. Regardless, in the end, our efforts bore fruit, and even if I had not crossed paths with him no more, he was kind enough to pass along words of advice.
...Given the brief nature of crossing paths with other knights even in general, it has stuck with me, even now.
[ Funny that then he encountered a knight and here he managed to do the very same. Fate is very funny like that, except, even if the circumstances ring similar, there are particular elements of it that still differ by far. ]
[Fray listens curiously. It really does sound an awful lot like their situation here, and hopefully how things will play out in this world as well. Fascinating... To think that Argenti's already experienced in this. No wonder the goddess chose to bring him along for this wild ride.]
Understandably so, when the circumstances are quite similar. It would seem the goddess has an interesting sense of humor.
[There's no bite behind the words, though. Even if she did plan this from the start, there's no way she could have assumed that Fray and Argenti would get along like a house on fire, right?? Look at them, they're polar opposites. Well, sometimes.]
We'll see if our efforts will prove as useful here, though I imagine that this world isn't beyond saving.
[Hope is such a fragile, delicate thing. It would be so painfully easy to crush it and remain pessimistic about their odds. It would be far easier to assume that their efforts won't bear fruit, that everything they do will ultimately be pointless in this other world, so very far from home.
But Fray isn't the sort to give up without a fight. He wouldn't be a very good Dark Knight if he was, now would he?]
[ Argenti feels so confident that he can measure up to whatever the goddess expects of him, so even though there are many elements to their having arrived here at all, he doesn't intend to answer it with any less than his normal enthusiasm. ]
Yes, quite fortunately for us.
[ The red-haired male adds, eyes creasing in good cheer at that. He supposes that is another something to be grateful for the goddess for. ]
I have full faith that our efforts will truly bear fruit. Beauty will smile on this world once again, in the most brilliant of ways.
[ Because the Beauty is eternal, and beauty will never die; as long as it exists, hope springs eternal, and it will bloom ever so brilliantly. The brightness in Argenti's eyes hasn't died out just yet as he looks upon Fray with great confidence that he is certain to match the other man's. But, well, they have been standing around in the movie theatre long enough that other people will inevitably gather, so... ]
...Either way, I believe we should get going. It would be a shame if we held up everyone else!
It was a pleasure spending time with you as always, Fray. I look forward to us crossing paths once more.
[ Whether it's for racing practice or watching movies...it is a fact that he's earnestly truly treasuring the other man's company greatly. ]
[Ah, we have been idling here for awhile, haven't we...]
Of course, Argenti. Until next time. Do take care of yourself.
[It's said with a touch of humor, as though Fray recognizes the absurdity of the request. Because there's simply no way Argenti won't take care of himself, so there's no reason to say it in the first place. And yet he does anyway, because... well, because he wanted to. Because he does want Argenti to take care of himself, as silly as it is to say it aloud.
With a final nod, Fray takes his leave, determined not to think about it any more than that.]

I wouldn't put it past you, truly. You have my word that should I find something suitable, I'll be sure to invite you.
[As though he'd dream of going alone?? When Argenti would probably be disappointed in him?? Not possible.]
Though it would seem the people here are hardly in a mood to put on much of anything, as far as performances go.
