I'm afraid that I can't exactly tell which method is better, but generally fighting evils typically helps erase and restores Beauty swiftly to places that have long lost its luster or deteriorated to a great extent. At least, based on my own experience! There was a city before this one I cruised through on my travels that I helped restore the very same way.
