[ Eli's popped into the Nekyia to meet Celeste, clad in his pajamas! Which consist of just some loose, boring grey sweatpants and no top. Despite being afflicted with lycanthropy, he isn't particularly hairy as far as chests go. Still, there is the inevitable scattering of old scars — claw marks, bites, cuts, even the odd bullet wound — here and there.
Considering he just rolled out of bed and straight into the Nekyia without even thinking of grabbing a shirt... look, man, he's a guy. He doesn't need a nightshirt.
What he did grab before coming in, however, is a basket! What's in that basket? A mystery. He has a cloth over it, but from how he's pacing, he seems pretty intent on finally handing whatever it is over. ]
[There are two kinds of people... While he's also only recently gotten up, he got dressed first, because going outside to watch the sunrise in pajamas seems like inviting others to ask why, and admitting he missed things like this...
Well, not everyone needs to know that!
Eli; however, will get a very pointed once-over, because really if he expected him to not, then he hasn't figured him out in the least bit, yet.]

[Usually people are excited about Christmas morning because they're the ones getting gifts!]
[ He's a lanky shit, but his muscle tone is evident regardless, and he can only offer a boyish grin a the once-over he catches Celeste giving him. ]
Kind of? I've been staring at the ceiling for maybe an hour now.
[ Anyway, he all but springs over to Celeste to hand him the basket. ]
Here! I, uh. I gave one to McGillis since... I thought it might help with his arm, but! I asked for these for you. It's spirit food, so you can even eat them!
[ Should Celeste remove the cloth covering the basket, he'll find it full of perfectly delicious-looking apples. ]
[He can appreciate a lanky shit, and he can certainly appreciate a boyish grin - and the way Eli springs over to him.
He hasn't even opened the basket, yet, and he's already taken aback somewhat - he asked for... a food? For him? (And now it makes sense why they had to meet in the Nekiya...) And he shared with McGillis without being prompted to do so, to help him, even after everything?
So Celeste blinks a bit owlishly and responds without being able to muster any teasing about him giving away some of his gift.]
[And then he actually does remove the cloth and practically freezes.]

[He's tearing up. It likely looks concerning, considering that sure is blood welling up in the corners of his eyes, but that also means he can't just blink it away and pretend it didn't happen.]
[But, oh, there's a hand on his face and he's leaning into the touch before he can pull away or try to say something to convince Eli that anything else at all is going on. So apparently it's his turn to make some embarrassing confessions.]
Because vampires cry blood, like we're all from some edgy teen romance...
[Says the man acting like he's in an edgy teen romance.]
[ He'll draw his hand back once he knows it isn't because Celeste is hurt or because he's done something wrong, somehow, by giving a vampire a basket of apples. That would have been a weirdly specific bane for vampires. ]
That's... I mean, sorry? I didn't think apples would make you cry.
[It's World of Darkness, some vampire out there somewhere probably has an apple Bane. Something something fruit of the garden, something something.
But not him.
And when Eli pulls his hand back, he's quick to smudge the tears away, heedless of whether or not they leave actual smudges behind on his cheeks. There are more important things, at the moment.]
Don't apologize for giving perhaps the most sentimental gift I've gotten in... ah. A very long time.

[ Most sentimental gift in...? Eli awkwardly pushes his hair back after wiping the blood off his fingers idly on his sweatpants, gaze flitting away in embarrassment. Even knowing he was giving Celeste something so deeply personal, well, he hadn't considered it'd be that important.

Aside from the flavor - sweet and crisp and just a bit tart - being better than any he remembered (but that's not a surprise, given how long it's been), and aside from the warm magical spark inherent of it being a product of this place... It's compassion. Affection. Care. It's humanity, something he'd thought he threw away decades ago, right there in his hands in a simple little fruit.
And Eli asks if it's good, as if that simple little word could encompass it.]
[ It may not describe everything it means to Celeste or every little thing he feels, but it's enough for Eli. He grins, immediately pleased that he's done something good for someone else. Especially for Celeste. He has to think... how much more spirit food can he get out of Mina and the goddess? What else could he ask for?
Ah, but now he's fully awake. If he'd been having trouble sleeping before, now there's no way he's going back to sleep. For something as simple as a gift of apples, it's sort of exciting. ]
